This tutorial will show you:
To get started, from the Parrish Library homepage, select the List of Business Databases on the left side of the page.
Then select ReferenceUSA.
What kind of information is available?
ReferenceUSA offers several searchable database modules containing detailed information on more than 12 million U.S. businesses and employers; 89 million U.S. residents; 855,000 U.S. health care providers; 1.5 million Canadian businesses; and 12 million Canadian residents.
From the homepage you can select one of the available databases to get started.
The default database should be U.S. Businesses. You can use the green links on the right side of the screen to do a Quick Search by keyword, or choose the Advanced Search option.
Make sure that “U.S. Businesses” is selected from the list of available databases.
From the filter options on the left side of the page, select the following:
Next, you’ll need to fill in the filter criteria.
Then click “Update Count” in the upper right corner to filter the search results.
You’ll notice that this generates about 10 results.
The heat map button at the top of the list will allow you to quickly compare each store by geographic location, sales, or number of employees.
We can see that the Meijer located in Kokomo has the largest number of employees.
You can navigate this report using the quick links on the left, or print or download using the buttons in the top right corner.
